Proudly sporting the “Made in Portugal” label on all its garments, Mustique is a Lisbon-based unisex fashion brand founded by childhood friends Vera Caldeira and Pedro Ferraz. Bridging the gap between edgy and sophisticated, Mustique pieces, which include recent collabs with both Krus and Undo, are characteristically playful, colourful and comfortable, designed to be worn from dawn ’til dusk.

Mustique’s prized merch is housed within a small but perfectly formed store in Lisbon’s river-facing Santos district, located on the lower part of the hill that’s crowned by its neighbour, Estrela. Both once played host to the vast mansions of the upper classes back in the 18th century, but are nowadays renowned for their hip bars, clubs, home décor shops and indie labels.

Punters are lured in by Mustique’s quirky window displays – currently awash knitted iterations of sprouting mushrooms and clouds passing slowly between the colours of the rainbow. Rails, featuring everything from palm-tree-embroidered sweats and knits, flared jeans, shirts – don’t miss “Folklore”, the ones crafted from vintage Portuguese tablecloths – shorts and tees, are flanked with ’70s-style furniture and kentia palms. Super-helpful staff are always on hand to furnish devotees with advice and even local tips for their stay in Portugal’s pulsating capital. Don’t miss Mustique’s sister store on Rua de Santos-O-Velho 106.
