What to pack: Brooklyn

If it were a city in its own right, Brooklyn would be America’s third biggest. And probably its most diverse. Every language under the sun is spoken there and style-wise it roams all over the place, from the gaudy glitz of Coney Island to the mumblecore heartlands of Williamsburg and Dumbo. Despite this, there is still a connecting thread that runs through the borough, a kind of defiant not-Manhattan-ness, a studied insouciance, an irrepressible cool. To fit in when you’re there, you need to try really hard and give the impression at all times that you’re not trying at all.

Brooklyn for Him

Carhart OG Chore Coat

When it comes to Brooklyn style, the first thing that comes to mind is workwear and no brand encapsulates this more than Carhartt. Their Chore coat, which has been given an aged canvas treatment, is perfect for an autumn adventure, styled up with relaxed wool trousers and a pair of workwear-style shoes. The jacket comes in a loose fit and therefore works fantastically for layering with items such as T-shirts, checked shirts and sweatshirts. A corduroy collar and detailed patch pockets give extra verve to this versatile workwear classic.
