Known in the horology world as a “racing machine for the wrist”, Richard Mille has made its name for both its innovative use of advanced, lightweight materials and focus on groundbreaking, hi-tech design. It should come as no surprise, then, that the brand’s new RM 63-02 Automatic Worldtimer takes an elegant and eminently Swiss approach to the technical complications of a world timer. Though not its first foray into world timers, Richard Mille is shaking up the world of global time complications with this new release; a typically ambitious and contemporary take on the classic model, limited to just 100 pieces.

Unlike traditional versions of world timers, which either employ a crown or pushers to adjust the time, Richard Mille positions this function directly on a rotating bezel. As the bezel is turned, a wheel which is integrated into the bezel and connected to the hour-wheel adjusts to the local time and updates it for the 23 other cities on the bezel. Thanks to this innovation, a traveller may select a city with a simple twist to enter the desired time zone.

Reliability was confirmed by testing the function over 5,000 full rotations, including a verification of the case’s seals every 1,000 rotations. In accordance with this focus on durability, the fast-rotating barrel guarantees a continuous power reserve of 50 hours, wound by a bi-directional rotor in 5N red gold and Grade 5 titanium.

Referred to by the luxury Swiss brand as an ‘ode to travel in horological form’, the RM 63-02 is the ultimate travel companion, embodying Richard Mille’s technical prowess and stylistic innovation. With its ingenious time-zone adjustment mechanism, it provides the perfect way to keep track of local time, making it an indispensable ally for those who call the world their home.
