Welsh actor and all-round good guy Luke Evans has already had a career that most can only dream of, with big roles in blockbuster films including Beauty and the Beast, Fast & Furious 6, The Hobbit and Dracula Untold. He’s also released two studio albums, At Last and A Song for You. And now he’s added another string to his already considerable bow with the launch of his new fashion brand, BDXY, a men’s staples collection that he created alongside his partner Fran Tomas and the stylist and creative consultant, Christopher Brown. They’ve launched with a compact range of super-sustainable T-shirts, underwear, vests, accessories and swimwear inspired by the trio’s love of Ibiza, and the collection channels the essence of summer holidays: salt water, breezy boat rides and feeling the sun’s warmth on your skin. Fresh from shooting a new movie – World-Breaker with Milla Jovovich, out in 2025 – Evans talks to us about some of his favourite spots on the Mediterranean’s loveliest island.

‘The natural beauty of Ibiza is extraordinary, and one of the best ways to see it is to go hiking with a Swiss guy called Manuel Ehrensperger who runs Ibiza Hike Station. He’s spent years on Ibiza finding secret places that not a lot of people know about and him and his team lead 30 different hikes on the island that range from lovely strolls to really difficult treks up cliffs. Earlier this year, he took us on a three-hour hike to a cave with a hole in the ceiling – it was like a natural version of the Pantheon in Rome – and we meditated in there for 20 minutes with the ocean light flickering into the cave. It was absolutely incredible. From there he took us to what looked like an infinity pool that [had been] carved out by the sea, which we got to swim in. It was magical and I saw a part of the island I didn’t know existed.

There are also some great spas on the island. My favourite is called Atzaró, which isin the middle of the island on a farm that has been owned by the same family for two or three hundred years. Like everywhere on Ibiza, you take a sharp turn off a fast road and then you go down a dirt track and along a winding road until you reach this paradise full of palm trees and orange groves in the middle of all this farmland. It’s a classic Spanish agroturismo hotel where they grow their own organic food, and it feels like a little village with all these lovely little houses and several incredible pools. It has a full-functioning all-the-works spa with everything from yoga to massages. It’s just absolutely stunning – you can easily spend a whole day there.

Playa Es Cavallet is one of Ibiza’s most untouched natural-looking beaches. It’s right on the southern tip of the island and across the water you can see Formentera. It’s home to one of my favourite restaurants, La Escollera. It’s another family-run business and it serves Spanish food done very well. The dorada (sea bream) comes baked in salt and they fillet it for you at the table. You have it with sliced fried potatoes and some roasted vegetables. Every meal ends with a shot of the island digestif, hierbas, which you drink enjoying the breeze and the sun. It’s a glorious place.
