Cartagena’s exciting contemporary art scene is showcased at the NH Galeria, opened by Nohra Haime in 2011. It works in partnership with the Nohra Haime Gallery in New York City, which was founded in 1981, and by working collaboratively, they hope to develop the international cultural exchange. The gallery shows artworks by local and international artists across various mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, installation and video. This diverse range of media and themes creates an engaging and refreshing space for visitors and buyers. With the gallery regularly featuring acclaimed artists such as Niki de Saint Phalle, Nadín Ospina, Olga de Amaral, Julio Larraz and with exhibitions rotating every few months, NH is developing into a major international destination. Certainly it’s an incredibly important space in giving local talent the opportunity to exhibit their work and there’s always something new to see.

Gallery owner Nohra Haime described Cartagena as having ‘real soul to it’ and the gallery really captures part of the city’s rich and diverse culture through its ever-growing collection. It is a great opportunity to discover Colombian artists you may not have heard of, but who are definitely up-and-coming in the art world.
