If I could be instantly transported anywhere right now, I would be swimming in the sea on a glorious summer’s day just in front of the Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes. The hotel is in one of the loveliest spots in Cornwall on a hill heading up to the castle. It used to be an old yacht club and then Olga Polizzi bought it and turned it into a masterpiece of a hotel. The rooms are all layered up the hill, so they all have a sea view. I’m particularly keen on the beautiful room over the entrance. Like all the others, it’s got a sort of faded sailor chic. The food’s very local, quite simple and delicious. The whole thing is just fabulous. After my swim, I’d head up to the roof for a sunset Negroni at the hotel’s cocktail bar.
