The vast Rubell Collection and Museum – the family’s private contemporary art collection numbers 7,200 pieces by more than a thousand artists – is housed in six former industrial buildings that were overhauled by Selldorf Architects in 2019. The on-site restaurant is the exquisite Leku, where they serve upscale Basque food and the best croquetas in Miami. The food is top-drawer: hand-cut steak empanadas, deep-fried snapper with salsa escabeche, a ridiculously decadent bread pudding. But as much as anything you’re coming here for the incredible atmosphere. At midnight they break down the tables and bring in a Latin band, and dancing begins.
If you’re in Wynwood of an evening, beat a path to this buzzy pan-Asian restaurant, which takes its cues mainly from Japan and Korea. It’s famous for its addictive Korean fried chicken and smoky treats, like its duck breast burnt ends. But vegetarians are also well catered to: Kyu’s trademark roasted cauliflower comes with goat’s cheese and shisito.
