Drink – Miami

From a Japanese-style listening bar to a cracking cocktail list hidden behind a curtained door, the best places to drink in Miami

Dante's Hifi

There is, perhaps, something a little studied about the developer-led hipster enclave that is Wynwood, but that doesn’t mean that the neighbourhood doesn’t have a few gems like Dante’s HiFi, Miami’s first Japanese-style listening bar. The owners take you on an all-vinyl curated musical journey while you drink fantastic cocktails like their specialty highball made with Japanese whisky.

Jaguar Sun

Formerly a pop-up, this small but perfectly formed cocktail bar has a new home in the lobby of the towering X Miami residential building, with its rooftop pool. You have to do a bit of work to find it: it’s in the lobby past the curtains. But the cocktail list is well worth searching out; the Fino martini is made with a whisper of sherry and clarified passionfruit. The short pasta menu packs a punch – be sure to try the bucatini cacio e pepe.

Las Terras

This Little Havana terrace bar is prettily perched up on the roof of the Life House hotel. The creative cocktail list uses ingredients grown in the hotel courtyard and drinks are modern interpretations of classic Caribbean flavours; the Domino Park old fashioned is made with rum and chocolate bitters. The sharing plates are upscale versions of urban Latin street food like queso fundido and tostones.
